When finding a career, most people think they have to choose between a job they love and one that pays the bills and helps them earn the desired money. However, (for beginner writers) some lucky people out there get to make a career out of their passion. For them, it’s like getting the cherry on top of an already delicious sundae. While the rest of us are stuck at our 9-to-5 jobs, they get to spend their days doing something they love.
Writing is a career success for me, and I love every minute of it. It wasn’t easy initially, and I had my fair share of bad days. I remember when I thought I would never be good enough, and I didn’t know what to do with myself. I encourage you to keep going, even if everything is against you. But everyone’s life journey is different, and there’s no reason to compare yourself to anyone else while achieving your goals.
I’m not going to lie. It’s tough to get into the writing profession. But I also want to encourage you that it’s possible. And by that suggestion, I mean you’re well-paid and happy with your lifestyle while working as a full-time writer.
I’m not saying that you will be a best-selling author and make millions of dollars as soon as you put your project out there, but it’s possible to have a promising writing career if you want to learn and genuinely love what you do.
And I’m going to share some useful knowledge on how you can find content opportunities in the future. So I hope you stick till the end.
What is the one way to success?
The key to success is consistency. This is true for any journey in life, whether it’s starting a new business, getting in shape, or learning a new skill. If you want to be successful in life, the key is to keep at it, track your progress and never give up. I know from experience that consistency is the first step in getting a head start on your success journey.
Even if you couldn’t keep up with your targets, you need not to stress as you’re still ahead of the others, who never even considered starting their goals. And you’ll be glad you gave it a shot at the end of the day. Of course, there will be ups and downs along the way and you may want to quit. But if you’re consistent, you will eventually reach your goals. It might not happen overnight, but anything is possible in life with persistence.
So if you’re looking for the one surefire key to success, just remember: be consistent and never give up on your dreams. With enough hard work and dedication, you can achieve anything you want. Now let’s dive into the 14 steps to writing success for beginners. I promise the article will be worthy of your time!
Strengthen Your Willpower
“Strengthening your willpower is like weightlifting for your mind. Just as you wouldn’t try to lift a heavy weight without gradually working your way up, you shouldn’t try to take on a difficult task without first building up your mental muscles and working on self-control.”
If you frequently succumb to temptation or give up on your goals, you’re not alone—many people struggle with self-control. But there are things you can do to strengthen your willpower and overcome these challenges.
Here are 3 Tips
- Have a positive mindset. You can refer to 9 Golden Rules of Happiness: To Live Your Life To The Fullest for more.
- Believe in yourself and your ability to reach your goals. When you feel tempted to give up, remind yourself of how far you’ve come, why this goal is important to you and that you’re smart enough to achieve success in life.
- Focus your energy on one task at a time. Trying to do too many things at once can overwhelm you and make it harder to stick with anything wrong. When working on a goal, focus on that and resist the urge to multitask.
Treat Failure as Part of the Process
“Treating failure as part of the process is like trial and error. Just as you wouldn’t give up after the first trial, you shouldn’t give up after the first failure. Keep trying, and eventually, you’ll succeed.”
There’s no one right way to achieve success in life. What works for some people may not work for others. The important thing is to keep moving forward and never give up on your dreams, especially in your dream occupation, because you can’t pretend to love something for longer than 90 days.
Learn From Trial And Error
Treat failure as part of the process. Every successful person has experienced moments of failure. What makes them different is that they don’t let those moments define them. They used them as motivation to keep going.
The next time you experience a setback, don’t get discouraged. Remember that it’s all part of the journey. Use it as an opportunity to learn and grow. Keep moving forward, and you’ll eventually reach your goals.
Set Realistic Goals
“Setting goals is a lot like setting out on a road trip. If you have a destination in mind, you’ll need to map a route to get you there.”
Setting goals is a great way to stay motivated and keep your eye on the prize, but it’s essential to ensure those goals are realistic. Trying to achieve something impossible or out of reach can set you up for disappointment and make it harder to stay motivated.
Instead, focus on setting small goals that you can realistically achieve when planning a productive week. These could include taking a new exercise class to improve your mental health, eating healthier meals, writing a little every day, or spending more time with loved ones. Celebrate each accomplishment along the way and let it motivate you to keep going for a better future.
Remember, is you want success in life then progress is vital. It doesn’t matter how big or small your goal is if you’re moving in the right direction. So take some time to sit down and think about what you want to achieve. Then set realistic goals to help you get there one step at a time. Don’t stress about how you’ll get there; only stress about how you’ll begin.
Build a Growth Mindset
“Think of your brain as a muscle. The more you exercise it, the stronger it gets. Similarly, the more you challenge yourself and push yourself out of your comfort zone, your growth mindset will develop.”
A growth mindset is essential for anyone who wants to achieve their life goals. A growth mindset’s definition is “the belief that the mind can develop one’s ability to perform tasks through practice and training.” And with the right attitude and effort, anyone can learn and develop their ability to perform tasks.
Develop These Few Key Habits And Skills To Build a Growth Mindset
- You have to believe that you possess the ability to learn anything that you want. In our school, we think we’re weak at one subject but ace at another; it’s just our mindset because, in reality, you’re not bad at either.
- Start working on your weaknesses by practicing daily and challenging yourself with more complex tasks. And complete them on time to show yourself it’s possible. Your progress track could tell you much about whatever direction you’re heading.
- Focus on developing a growth mindset to improve your understanding of yourself and the world continuously. Write every day and be passionate about whatever you write.
Be Mindful About What Causes Conflict in Life
“Conflict is like fire. Just as a fire needs oxygen to burn, conflict needs fuel. To avoid conflict, be mindful about what you’re adding to the fire.”
Mindfulness is key to managing conflict in life. Being present and focusing your energy on the task or person is the definition to create a motivated mindset to help prevent or resolve the dispute.
When we are not mindful, our attention is scattered, and we are more likely to become reactive and defensive. This can lead to escalation and further conflict, just like when we slowly slide back into old habits and then feel bad about it.
However, when we are mindful of our words and actions, we are more likely to be able to de-escalate a situation and find a resolution that works for everyone involved.
It takes practice to develop mindfulness, but it is worth the effort. The next time you find yourself in a situation that has the potential to turn into conflict, take a deep breath and focus on the present moment.
See if you can stay calm and constructive, and see how the situation unfolds from there. Everything will start making sense on its own.
Networking The Right Way
“Think of networking as planting seeds. You never know which seed will grow into a mighty oak and which will wither away.”
To be a successful writer, it is crucial to network with other writers and professionals in the field. You can do this by attending writing conferences and events, joining online and offline writing groups and communities, and reaching out to people who can help you further emerge your motivation, which in turn will help you in your writing.
Making friends with other writers is a great way to learn more about the craft and business to get success in life. These relationships can also lead to money and opportunities for collaboration or co-writing projects. And, of course, it’s always nice to have someone to commiserate with when the going gets tough!
Join a Community!
Joining a writing community is another excellent way to network. These groups provide support and advice like a family and provide a forum for exchanging ideas. You don’t have to pay for anything, and you might find that you have more in common with your fellow writers than you thought!
Improve Your Emotional Intelligence
“Emotional intelligence is like a thread that weaves its way through our lives, touching everything we do. The thread holds us together when everything else falls apart.”
You know what you want out of your personal life. You have big dreams, and you’re ready to pursue them. But before you set out on your journey to success, you should know a few things about yourself. Namely, your triggers, when you’re most productive and creative, and so on.
This self-awareness is key to maintaining emotional intelligence. After all, how can you manage your emotions if you don’t know what sets them off? Once you have a handle on your triggers, you can start working on healthily controlling them.
Likewise, knowing when you’re at your best can help you make the most of your time and energy. If you know you’re a night owl, then scheduling essential tasks for the evening hours is the best way to ensure that you do them and align your goals with your creativity.
Where Can I Start My Writing Career? (For Beginner Writers)
No matter what your dream career is, you have to start somewhere. Many people never reach their dreams because they don’t know they need to figure out where to start. Here are a few suggestions for where to begin your journey to success.
Many successful people journal every day. And I can. This will help you get into the habit of writing and give you something to look back on when you’re feeling stuck. Once you’ve been journaling for a while, you can start practicing in a more fun way.
Start Applying on Job Portals
Eventually, you’ll want to shift into a more professional mindset. This doesn’t mean that you have to give up your fun writing habits, but it does mean that you’ll need to focus on honing your craft.
Having your blog or writing for a local paper are great ways to get your foot in the door. Once you get the hang of it, you can start approaching fresher opportunities in content writing and build up confidence in your writing skills.
As you can see, there are many ways to improve your writing abilities. It’s about figuring out what works best for you and getting started.
You can also try freelancing on platforms like Upwork and Fiverr. This will allow you to sharpen your writing skills and build your portfolio. A content writer opportunity is lucrative and fulfilling, so keep at it!
Ps: None of those mentioned above platforms has sponsored this article; it’s simply my personal opinion to help you in your writing journey.
Use Writing Tools
If you want to write, some tools can help you achieve your writing goals. Grammarly is an excellent tool for checking your grammar and spelling.
SEO tools can help you research keywords and optimize your articles for search engines. Reading is also essential for writers. Reading books, magazines, and blogs can help you learn about the craft of writing and improve your writing skills.
A critical tool for writers is friendships and relationships. Having a supportive group of friends or a writing partner can help you stay motivated and inspired.
These people can also give you feedback on your work about what went wrong and offer helpful criticism. If you don’t have any writer friends, consider joining a writer’s group or taking a class.
Isolate Writing Excuses
If you’re writing a short story, article, or poem, try to complete it in one sitting. And if you can’t finish in one sitting, try to ensure you spend most of it in that time.
If you’re writing a novel, try to isolate yourself from the rest of the world. Try to find a space where you won’t be distracted by people, friends, family, or your phone.
Find a way to make distractions less tempting, like putting your phone on silent. I know the process of writing can be daunting, especially for beginners. But it doesn’t have to be.
Set Aside Sometime Each Day to Write
It can be a little; even just 15-20 minutes will do. But making time for writing each day will help you form the habit and make progress on your projects.
Make this time a non-negotiable appointment. Be it “writing” your top priority and make it difficult to miss.
Do the math, for example –30 days x 15 minutes = 4 hours of writing each month. If you do that consistently, you’ll have a short story finished quickly!
Find a Comfortable Place to Write
It could be a quiet corner of your home, a nearby coffee shop, or even a park bench. Wherever you feel most relaxed and able to focus is where you should write.
Some people like to write in utter silence, and others are like me, who love music and can’t think without it. Find what works for you and stick with it.
I write at home with music on, but I don’t listen to the lyrics. I like instrumental music. Music with lyrics can be distracting, so only use it if you need inspiration.
But if you prefer lyrics, search Ibiza Summer House Mixes on Youtube. There are too many playlists to choose from, and they are all the same, but they do the trick of getting you in the mood to write.
Use a Timer
Remember not to underestimate the power of deadlines, it’d one of the key to success. The mental adrenaline rush when you need to deliver something on time or the world will end. It’s what you need precisely to fulfill your draft on time.
The timer on your phone is perfect for this, or if you’re like me, I use the Pomodoro Technique to tackle creative burnout when I’m writing my novels. I set it for 25 minutes, and I take a 5-minute break when it goes off.
When the timer goes off again, I write for another 25 minutes and then take another break. Repeat until your project is done And you’ll thank me later. Your welcome, though 😉
Gather Your Materials Ahead of Time
Make sure you have everything you need before writing so you can continue in the middle of your session to not look for something.
