5 New Rules for a Glow Up in 2024

55 glow up challenge

This Blog “55 Glow up” is the continuation of the 75 Hard Challenge. If you haven’t read that yet. Don’t worry. You can catch up on it right after this one. Are you ready for a glow up ?

The 55 Glow Up Challenge is a personal growth journey that focuses on self-improvement without the rigidity and guilt-inducing demands of the 75 Hard Challenge. Let’s delve into the details of this friendly and empowering challenge:

In the process of glowing up, remember to polish your soul too; because a beautiful heart outshines everything else.

Rule #1: Exercising 5 Times a Week

Engage in physical activity for at least 5 days a week, with each session lasting 30 minutes. This challenge offers flexibility in choosing your preferred workouts. One day, you might feel like dancing your heart out with a fun Zumba session to get your blood pumping and your energy up. On another day, when you’re not feeling up for high-intensity exercises, you can opt for a calming Pilates routine to focus on strength and flexibility. The key is to listen to your body and choose activities that align with your energy levels and personal preferences.

I get bored so easily—that’s why I love starting my workouts with high-intensity sets on Monday, moving on to Zumba for inspiration on Tuesday, and just dancing without any rules all over in my home on Wednesday, back to some full-body pilates on Thursday and ending up with good old cardio on Fridays. You can choose what works for you, but you can only get to know that once you start experimenting with different workouts.

Embracing a cheat meal is like taking a scenic route; you might stray from the path, but you’ll enjoy some great sights.

Rule #2: 5 Cheat Meals a Month

Nourish your body with wholesome, balanced meals. Unlike rigid diets, the 55 Glow Up Challenge encourages mindful choices and a balanced approach to eating. Explore a variety of nutritious foods that make you feel good and energized. Incorporate plenty of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains into your meals. Remember, this challenge is all about nurturing your well-being, not restricting yourself or conforming to a specific diet plan.

But here’s the best part, you can have cheat meals 5 times a month—the only rule is that you can’t use two cheat meals in one week. That gives you enough junk to go out and enjoy your life when an unexpected party comes up, or you have to attend someone’s wedding. Now you can have the cake and eat it too!

Think back to those hot summer days where you would bite into a slice of refreshing watermelon. Now, that’s what I call hydration! Eating your water allows you to relive those memories with every bite.

Rule #3: Eat Water Rather Than Drinking Too Much

Hydrating yourself by drinking an adequate amount of water daily is important. Though you can eat fruits and vegetable which have more water content. Eating water is always better than drinking it. So, add some edible H2O in your diet.

You know how when you’re really thirsty and you gulp down a glass of water, it’s so satisfying? Imagine that, but with every bite of a juicy watermelon or a crunchy cucumber. It’s like quenching your thirst and satisfying your hunger at the same time.

While the exact amount of water intake may vary for each individual, aim to stay hydrated throughout the day. Listen to your body’s thirst signals and make a conscious effort to drink water regularly. Whether you prefer sipping from a water bottle or infusing your water with fresh fruits and herbs for added flavor, find a method that keeps you motivated to stay hydrated.

I like to keep a water bottle nearby, it helps me remember that I need to take a sip occasionally. I don’t have to gulp a lot of water down my throat at a moment. It doesn’t work against you when you drink mindfully. I’m talking about water you addicts! 🙂

Ever been on an adventure without leaving your house? That’s what books do – they’re your magic carpet to anywhere and everywhere!

Rule #4: Read Books, No Rules!

Reading a book is like taking a road trip through someone else’s mind. It gives you a chance to explore corners of the world that might otherwise stay hidden.

Dedicate time to personal growth and self-reflection. The 55 Glow Up Challenge recognizes the importance of nurturing your mind and spirit. Set aside moments each day for personal development activities that resonate with you. This can involve reading books that inspire and educate you, listening to motivational podcasts, attending workshops or seminars, or journaling to reflect on your thoughts and experiences. The key is prioritizing self-reflection and continuous learning, fostering personal growth throughout the challenge.

I love these rules because they won’t restrict you from doing what you don’t want. Doesn’t matter if it’s fiction or nonfiction. You’re just supposed to be reading five to ten pages from a book every single day. I was confused in the 75 hard challenge when they said that I need to be reading 10 pages from a book, but does it mean front and back if I read 10 pages without front and back that means it would be 20 pages. And it won’t be fair.

Take Yourself to Another Realm

Plus it’s too much and I cannot consume that much knowledge in one because I don’t read books just for the sake of reading it. I actually want to learn a few stuff and I believe that if we take some lessons out of a book, even if it’s just a one that can change your life then that book was considered useful. But for those people who think that reading nonfiction is the only way you can grow as a person. Well, no you’re wrong.

I hate to disappoint you, but reading fiction can also help you in so many ways. Books are like friends who tell us their deepest secrets, share their wildest dreams, and never judge us for ours.

Just as an artist needs solitude to create masterpieces, we need solo dates to nurture our inner self. Believe me, it’s an enriching experience.

Rule #5: One Solo Date in a Month For That Glow Up

Embrace self-care practices tailored to your needs. Self-care is an integral part of the 55 Glow Up Challenge. Take time to engage in activities that recharge and rejuvenate you. It could be indulging in a soothing bubble bath, practicing meditation or mindfulness, exploring a creative hobby, or simply enjoying quality time with loved ones. Customize your self-care routine based on what brings you joy and inner peace.

You can take yourself to a solo date once in a while. If you can’t do it once a week then at least try to do it once a month. It will enhance your confidence in so many ways. No, those people eating alone in restaurants are not lonely, they are simply giving themselves the self love they deserve.

Picture this: You’re an artist with a fresh canvas in front of you. There are no guidelines, no rules, just your imagination running wild and free. That’s the beauty of a solo date – it’s your own personal canvas where you’re free to paint whatever picture you desire.

Going on a solo date is like holding up a mirror and saying, ‘Hey there! I’ve got time just for you today.’ It’s empowering to make yourself your priority once in a while! What’d you think? Comment down below!
