How to Recharge as a Writer: The Wordless Weekend Challenge

There’s always gonna be one of those days when you feel as if nothing is working out. It’s even more irritating for writers, I want to stop worrying about grammatical mistakes when I’m chatting with a friend and not working on a blog post, that’s all!

No matter how much I love writing, there are still some days when I feel like not writing at all. Why not recharge ourselves with a wordless weekend?

A wordless weekend is a great way to rejuvenate and reflect on our writing journey. It can be tough to stay motivated daily, so taking a break can help us hit the refresh button.

During a wordless weekend, we can take time for ourselves—no writing, no editing, no stress. It’s a time to relax and just enjoy the moment. Maybe we’ll take a nature walk, read a book, or just sit in silence. Whatever we choose, it’s important to give ourselves this break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Pick a Different Task

Have you ever had one of those weekends where you don’t have any plans and you’re not quite sure what to do with yourself? Maybe you’ve been meaning to start a new hobby, but you just haven’t gotten around to it. Or maybe you’ve wanted to try something new but are unsure where to start.

Well, this weekend, I challenge you to choose one activity you’ve always wanted to do and just go for it. It doesn’t matter if you’re not good at it or if you don’t think you’ll like it. Just give it a try. And who knows? You might just discover that you’re having a great time.

So what are you waiting for? Pick an activity and get started! The amount of enjoyment you experience might surprise you. And who knows?

Discovering My Options

Playing guitar and baking are both meditative processes that help me clear my mind and focus on the task at hand. When I’m playing guitar, I’m completely focused on the music and the movement of my hands. I often forget about everything else going on in my life when I’m lost in the music.

I love playing guitar and recently started taking guitar lessons. My soul loves baking as well. These two activities are my favorite ways to relax and recharge.

There’s just something special about these two things. And let me tell you why:

Baking is similar in that it requires precision and attention to detail. I have to be careful not to overcook or undercook the food, and I also have to be mindful of the presentation. It doesn’t matter which activity you choose, as long as it’s different from what you usually do.

Explore Other Hobbies

We as humans can excel at many skills, so it’s hard to believe when somebody says writing is the only thing they’re good at. Writing is a skill worth mastering, but many other hobbies and activities are just as rewarding.

Weekends are the perfect time to explore other hobbies. There’s no need to feel guilty about taking a break from writing because you can always come back to it refreshed and with new ideas. So go ahead and take that painting class you’ve been meaning to sign up for or go on hikes and nature walks.

Learning new things keeps life interesting, so don’t limit yourself to just one skill. You might find that you’re good at something you never even imagined!

What is It Like?

wordless weekend could be the secret to your creativity

A wordless weekend may sound like a contradiction, but it’s the perfect way to recharge. By disconnecting from technology and spending time in nature, you can reconnect with yourself and the world around you.

You don’t have to go off the grid to enjoy a wordless weekend. Start by disconnecting your devices and social media for a day or two.

Spend time outside, exploring nature and enjoying the silence. Being constantly connected may feel strange at first if you’re used to being constantly connected. But give yourself some time to adjust and you’ll soon start to appreciate the benefits of disconnecting from the world’s noise.

A wordless weekend is a perfect opportunity to reset your mind and body. By taking some time for yourself, you can come back refreshed and ready to take on whatever life throws your way.

How Can It Be Beneficial?

A weekend without worries can be the perfect way to recharge your batteries. I know from personal experience that taking a break from words and communication can be beneficial. Undoubtedly, I remember feeling more like myself after spending a weekend without speaking. It makes me feel more relaxed and at ease and I could enjoy my own company.

Finding time to be alone can be difficult, but I would encourage everyone to try it at least once. It might end up being the ideal way for you to restore your energy.

The worse that can happen is—it didn’t go as expected. But the best that can happen is—freedom from worrying too much, living life to the fullest and so much more. The possibilities are endless!

This weekend is for creativity and fun. So go forth and be musical, bake up a storm, or dance like no one is watching!

wordless weekend is a perfect way to recharge

5 Tips For a Successful Wordless Weekend!

  • Set the intention for your weekend. Whether it’s to disconnect from work, spend time with family, or just relax and recharge, setting an intention will help you make the most of your wordless weekend.
  • Plan and set some boundaries – determine what you’ll allow yourself to do and what you won’t. You can easily prevent any frustration or feelings of withdrawal just by planning.
  • Spend time with loved ones – use this time to connect with those closest to you without distractions. Play games, tell stories, or just enjoy each other’s company.
  • Use the opportunity to connect with nature – go for walks, sit in silence, and take in your surroundings. This may be a fantastic way for you to unwind and revitalize.
  • Be present. Once you’ve set your intention and made your plans, it’s time to enjoy your wordless weekend! Be present in the moment and savor the silence.

Once a writer—always an editor. Somebody, please stop me from trying to edit my chats while I’m having an informal conversation. I want to feel normal—making spelling mistakes while I’m not working. Is that too much to ask for?

Final Thoughts

Being a writer is a perfectly acceptable dream. It’s a great ambition to have. But sometimes, the pressure of writing can be too much. If you feel stressed about writing, take a break and try something new.

Don’t force yourself to write if you’re not feeling inspired. Instead, take some time off and explore other hobbies. You might find something you’re even more passionate about than writing.

And don’t worry; your writing will still be there when you’re ready to come back to it. In the meantime, enjoy your wordless weekend and let go of the pressure of writing.

Comment which part of today’s post you felt most relatable to and consider sharing it with more people who’re being hard on themselves. There’s nothing wrong with being a workaholic but you need a well-deserved break once in a while. Don’t you think?
